Mohbad, assault and death: all fingers are pointing at Naira Marley

With broken hearts, Nigerians globally mourn the demise of a talented Yoruba hip-hop artist, Mohbad whose death occurred on the 12th September, 2023.

Mohbad was originally named Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba. He was born on the 8th June, 1996 in Ketu, Lagos state, Nigeria.

He was signed to Naira Marley’s Marlian Records but later left the label in 2022.

According to Vanguard, “The cause of his death remains unknown as different accounts of circumstances surrounding the demise exist. One account was that he complained of an ear problem, which led to him being taken to the hospital. He was alleged to have died in Ikorodu, Lagos, after being administered an injection by an auxiliary nurse.”

After two years, Mohbad announced his resignation from Marlian Records, he was assaulted by the owner of Marlian Records, Naira Marley. However, Marley responded to the accusation by calling the incident a “family affair”, claiming Mohbad was likely “high” when making the complaint.

He made this known on 5th October 2022, that his manager, singer Naira Marley’s assault and stated that he ordered people to beat him up after he announced his intention to employ a new manager to manage his music and business empires.

Since his death, many Nigerians are pointing fingers at Naira Marley and his gangs for being responsible for Mohbad’s death.

However, music producer, K-Solo reported that the the family of late Nigerian singer, Mohbad has exhumed his body yesterday for autopsy.

K-Solo shared the update, said the late singer’s body will be exhumed tonight, September 18, or latest tomorrow morning. He also disclosed that the Police are currently taking statements from the late singer’s parents.

Finally, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa has inaugurated a team of investigators to investigate the death of Mohbad. You can watch the video here:
